Our successful Enviro Grant application to Logan City Council will allow us to continue our work to record significant local natural history. Look for us in the Jimboomba Times.
This project has been high on our agenda for some time and we are very appreciative of the Logan City Council for giving us this opportunity.
The project is to produce a colour Brochure of the NATIVE Flora and Fauna of the Cedar Vale and Veresdale areas. The Cedar Vale, Veresdale and surrounding areas are undergoing rapid development. At risk is the endangered Dry Vine Scrub ecosystem of the Veresdale Scrub and the associated wildlife and also includes the supporting open eucalypt forests and melaleuca vegetation communities which provide food source and protective habitat for our varied wildlife species.
Urgent action is required to communicate the importance of protecting this vegetation and wildlife. The collection of relevant data will be used to produce a colour brochure with photographs for distribution to the community. Information provided in the brochure will be a helpful reference for individuals and the community in achieving better environmental practices, considerations and outcomes, and to achieve greater recognition of the biodiversity values of this specific location.
All enquiries regarding this project are welcome by contacting the Project Coordinator Carla Parker - Logan and Albert Conservation Association Inc on

Our conservation group has also received federal government envirofund money largely for revegetation of the endangered habitat. It is important to be aware that only plants germinated from locally sourced seed can be planted to preserve the unique gene pool of this vegetation. Local provenance is the terminology for this. If you are interested to learn more or get your hands dirty to rescue this small rainforest remnant of dry vine scrub, please contact Carla - or come along to a working bee or monthly meeting.
