Campaign re fast tracking development of Greenfield sites in SEQ

act_now.gifThe Sunshine Coast Environment Council has launched a campaign in response to the Premier (Anna Bligh) announcing that Greenfield sites will be fast tracked for development within the next 12 months. One of the many aspects of this campaign is to send bulk letters to the Council of Mayors urging them to ‘band together' and say NO to the State Governments' inept plan. It focuses on South East Queensland (not just the Sunshine Coast).

A software development / website company called Cimtak has sponsored a website which has the letter that anyone can sign electronically, add their own comments and submit. The letters will be forward to the Council of Mayors and cc. to;

Mayor Campbell Newman (Brisbane City Council)

Mayor Bob Abbott (Sunshine Coast Regional Council)

Mayor Ron Clarke (Gold Coast Regional Council)

Mayor Melva Hobson (Redlands City Council)

Mayor Pam Parker (Logan City Council)

Mayor Allan Sutherland (Moreton Bay Regional Council)

Mayor Paul Pisasale (Ipswich City Council)

The letters will be submitted to mayors in a constant stream until 8 August as this will be their last meeting before parliament sits. The letter is available as of Monday the 23rd of June until Friday 8th of August 2008. Access it via the ‘Population Plan Outrage' menu item on the Sunshine Coast Environment Council website or click here to go directly to the letter,
